EATING OUT

When visiting Netherton Hall and the Peak District, you be spoilt for choice as we have a wonderful selection of local breweries, cosy pubs and great restaurants in our area. A few are within striding distance of the cottages at Netherton Hall and a countryside walk is the perfect way to work up an appetite, so see below for some of our favourite places to eat and drink.

The Red Lion at Hognaston

THE RED LION

A lovely traditional, 17th century, village pub located in Hognaston (1.5 miles), which also serves good food at lunch time and evenings – booking is advisable. Tim’s local!

THE KNOCKERDOWN

The Knockerdown Inn is our closest venue just over a mile away and we are very lucky that it serves excellent food in both it's restaurant and fast food trucks and is open every day.  The Knockerdown can cater for small or larger groups but booking is recommended as it is very popular.  This is a firm favourite.

The George at Alstonefield

THE GEORGE

Sitting pretty on the village green, The George at Alstonefield is definitely worth a visit. A popular dining destination, with food is recognised by Michelin, The Good Food Guide, and Sawdays.

The Olde Gate Inn at Brassington

THE OLD GATE INN

One of the oldest pubsin the area, located in Brassington (2.5 miles). Booking for food is essential. Why not walk from Haven Hill cottage through the grounds of Netherton Hall and follow the footpath alongside the stream.

The Sycamore in the nearby village of Parwich and serves serves a wide range of  fantastic home cooked food.  It is a very welcoming pub in a beautiful setting so well worth a visit.  The Sycamore is very popular with our guests and recommended for those with a good healthy appetite

Cock Inn Mugginton

Located in Muggington with a delicious menu featuring many dishes from around the world.  Indulgence is most certainly encouraged.

Miners Arms Brassington

THE MINERS ARMS

The Miners Arms is also in the next village of Brassington (2.5 miles) it is a lovely local pub serving traditional bar food and drinks. 

As with the Gate Inn, it is a 30 min walk through the fields and is the ideal way to work up that thirst and meet a few of the local residents!​
